The Sevier County School System wishes to congratulate the football programs at Sevier County High School and Gatlinburg-Pittman High School on their respective performances this season, earning both a shot at the state title this Friday! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance displayed by each player and coach throughout the season. Their commitment to excellence—on and off the field—has made our entire school system and our county proud.
In order to allow as many students and families as possible to travel to Chattanooga to support our teams, we are amending the school schedule to exchange an administrative day from May 28th for this Friday, December 5. This means that there will be no school for students on Friday, with them instead attending on May 28th to make up the instructional day. This change will also ease logistical difficulties that may arise from a lack of staff present, substitutes and bus drivers available, and other arrangements associated with travel within the two high schools and their feeder schools. Two county teams playing for the state championship is truly a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence that we would love for families to be able to experience.
